Customers are sometimes injured by products that do not meet proper safety guidelines, even when they are used in a normal way. Google and HP have been instructed to recall 145,000 units of their model Chromebook 11 charger and power supply, according to PR Newswire.

Customers are advised that they should not use the charger for this Chromebook. They must be returned and should not be resold, even if the consumer is reselling a Chromebook with this type of charger. These chargers have been found to overheat and melt, which poses a burn and fire hazard. Consumers who have been injured can contact a personal injury attorney to handle their case.

Google and HP have been instructed to replace the chargers at no cost to customers. Consumers can call Google at (866) 628-1371 or click on their Chromebook link and go through the Support Menu for additional information.

The recall only involves the specific chargers that were originally sold with Model 11 of the HP Chromebook. It is black and has outlet pins. The cord is six feet long and has a micro-USB connector at the end. The charger model number is MU15-N1052-A00S. Consumers who have been injured by chargers of this type should get in touch with Kirkendall Dwyer LLP.

There have been nine reports of these chargers overheating and then melting while being used. At least one consumer has been burned and there has been minor property damage as the result of the overheating chargers. A personal injury attorney can handle the case of anyone injured by these recalled chargers.

To remedy the situation as far as replacements are concerned, consumers should stop using these recalled chargers now. They should contact Google, and they will be sent a replacement charger, free of charge. The original Chromebook 11 and chargers were sold across the United States at HP Shopping, Google Play, BestBuy.com and Amazon.com.
