In another example of apparently unsafe weight loss compounds being marketed in the U.S, the FDA warned consumers not to purchase or use Bella Vi Insane Amp’d or Bella Vi Amp’d Up.
The warning was issues after FDA laboratory analyses confirmed that the compounds contain sibutramine, which was removed from the market in 2012 for safety reasons. Products containing sibutramine, such as Bella Vi Insane, Bella, Vi Amp’d Up and Dr. Mao Slimming Capsules are known to pose a substantially increased risk of elevating blood pressure and/or pulse rate in some patients and they can present a significant risk for patients with a history of coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, or stroke. Additionally, the weight loss products may have cause adverse reactions in those taking one or more of the products in conjunction with other drugs, such as phenolphthalein, an ingredient in some over-the-counter (OTC) laxative products.
It is tempting to look for a quick fix when it comes to weight loss, and one is tempted to try drugs and compounds that offer a seemingly easy solution to weight loss challenges. It is important to research thoroughly the ingredients in these compounds and to search for available information regarding product safety. In some cases, weight loss compounds may be entirely safe, but the most prudent course of action is always to consult with your physician before taking any pills.
